Environmental and Climate Clauses in the New Generation of International Investment Agreements
Description
Denisa is a PhD student at the Department of International and European Law, where she specialises in international investment law with an emphasis on harmonising international investment agreements with climate and environmental policies. Her academic journey began at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University, where she graduated with a degree in Political Science (2020) and Environmental Science (2023). This interdisciplinary background has fundamentally shaped her research focus, which is oriented towards climate, sustainable development and environmental issues within international law. In 2025, Denisa received the Honorary Mention of the Rector of Palacký University to Students of Doctoral Study Programmes for a Professional Article. Denisa is now in the final stages of her master’s degree in law at the Faculty of Law at Palacký University.
Research and expertise
Denisa is following up on her master’s thesis, which she defended at the Faculty of Law at Palacký University (The Energy Charter Treaty in Changing Climate: The Phenomenon of Regulatory Chill and Interpretation Challenges). Her research reflects a desire to balance the protection of foreign investment and the growing demands for implementing effective climate and environmental policies. This intersection has important implications for both international investment law and achieving global climate and environmental goals. At CIHOL, Denisa is focusing on environmental and energy security.
